An attractive dish presented by a chef will add to the desire of it's consumption. In a similar way, the work of a visual artist can add to the desire of someone to use a person or company's product or services.
The importance of branding for entrepreneurs or businesses in general cannot be overstated. A wider number of consumers than not are more comfortable dealing with businesses that appear to be well established. An impressive identity is part of the foundation that leads to greater numbers in sales.
As a graphic artist, I take into account personality, target markets, reproduction issues, adaptability of designs, flow and consistency along with technical aspects such as color and how it relates to mood.
When it comes to promoting an entertainment company such as Perskription Entertainment, the selling pieces that go out into the public's eye have to be attractive enough to compete with so many other events vying for consumers disposable income. If the promotional materials such as flyers, posters, digital ads etc. do not cause a bit of intrigue regarding the product, it may reflect in the number of sales to the shows.
Freedom in creative expression was fortunately available to me in this ongoing project. I was able to develop the logo and shoot the idea for the cut line "Performances Enhanced" to the CEO who agreed with it. In addition, I was able to create the visuals for the promotional materials from both of our ideas and some of my own photography.
For this project I just basically took all of the symbols that had to do with what this Christian fraternity stood for and incorporated them into a logo that could be applied to a variety of uses. Seeing as though there were only certain colors that could be used, because of their symbolic meaning, the challenge came in determining what goes where to create a visually pleasing arrangement for a shirt.
Barbers have their own signature style when they cut and shave clients, why not their own logo? J Swag has plenty of pictures showing off his finished work. This is why I offered him a logo as well to display them around. Branding in this case, offers the potential for so many other possibilities in his field that can set him apart from others.
Having the skills of an illustrator comes in handy when it comes to designing. Chelle's Time to Shine now has it's own unique identity to carry with it wherever it goes. There are also times when a flyer is necessary to give a detailed account of ones services as opposed to just a business card. In consulting with businesses during their conception this can be logically determined without wasteful spending.
There are times when a client already has their design idea, and I simply rework it for them. Actress, singer and performing artist Candace C. Edwards already brought the vision for her CD cover and had the idea created. My version merely takes the idea and color scheme and incorporates the bars of music as well as the notes to show how music is using it's healing powers to mend a broken heart.
Photographs are pleasant reminders of places and events we have seen and experienced, yet they are probably displayed more digitally than in our homes actually framed. This poster was a gift using an array of pictures taken at the same party to form an interesting collage for the host to reflect back upon.
It can all start with a sketch. During the start of this project, the owners of this establishment had an idea of what they wanted their logos to be. I originally created a sketch that further developed into what they envisioned. This has helped them establish their corporate identity in two different states. The advertisement pieces shown are just a few that have transpired from that one sketch. As with all the projects displayed on this site, I put forth my best effort into turning ideas and concepts into creations.
